Fraud Awareness and Cybersecurity
Overview
Trimontium prioritises the security of our clients’ information and assets. However, fraud is an issue that companies may face regardless of size, industry or country.
Cyber criminals may seek to misuse Trimontium’s name, brand, intellectual property, and reputation. This can include publishing fake news articles and websites; launching illegitimate marketing, fundraising, and/or investment campaigns; or engaging in other fraudulent schemes, such as illicit recruitment activities, to gain money and/or confidential information, or to deceive, misinform, or otherwise cause harm to individuals and businesses. Bad actors may pose as legitimate organisations and send emails or make phone calls to extract personal data that can be used for financial crimes. These scams can be sophisticated: perpetrators may use real employee names, replicate proprietary documentation, and/or illegally use Trimontium’s intellectual property in an attempt to appear legitimate.
Trimontium encourages clients and the public to be aware of the different types of fraud and to exercise caution when disclosing personal information and/or interacting with individuals purporting to represent Trimontium. To help improve awareness and knowledge, we offer the following information on Trimontium approved channels of communication, as well as guidance to help protect our partners from falling victim to a cyber-attack.
Approved Channels of Communication
Trimontium only sends emails from ‘trimontium.com’ and our official website is: www.trimontium.com. We do not use other global top level domains, like .net, .co or .biz. Our name is not hyphenated and neither are the email and website addresses we use.
Trimontium issues informational postings from time-to-time on LinkedIn. Where it does so, they will be from accounts that are clearly related to Trimontium or its staff.
Trimontium does not conduct investment related or transactional business over any chat or social media platforms.
Cybersecurity Best Practices
Please consider the following cybersecurity best practices when interacting with Trimontium:
- Be sceptical of unsolicited emails, text messages or phone calls. Trimontium does not engage in cold calling or in sending unsolicited messages or emails to clients. Trimontium only contacts people from official trimontium.com email addresses.
- Confirm you are visiting Trimontium’s authorised website: www.trimontium.com
- Do not share your Trimontium related passwords with anyone, including anyone from Trimontium.
- Use an email provider that allows the use of two or multifactor authentication, and ensure your email account leverages a unique and long password, not used for any other website.
- If you intend to do business with Trimontium, please only communicate or deal with Trimontium staff via email addresses ending in trimontium.com. Do not communicate or deal with any individual purporting to represent Trimontium who is not using such an address.
- Be sceptical of changes to wire or payment instructions over the phone. If this happens, you should hang up, and contact us using contact details independently obtained from our website (www.trimontium.com), or the phone number of your usual Trimontium contact that you already hold on file. Trimontium will never ask you to solicit payment of funds or wiring of funds over the phone, email, or text.
- Imposters can use the Trimontium name in furtherance of a variety of criminal activities. In particular, beware of scams purportedly affiliated with Trimontium that promise extraordinary returns on your investment at little to no risk.
